Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has launched the online portal ‘photonepal.travel‘ organizing a special program in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The portal was formally launched by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai. The newly launched portal is a part of the campaign, #PhotoNepal, which NTB has been regularly organizing for the last four years.
According to NTB, pictures from its #PhotoNepal campaign during the last four years will also be showcased in the online version. The website is also aimed at establishing as a special platform for showcasing pictures of both amateurs and professionals and bridging between the photographers and clients. It features pictures under various categories like travel, nature, landscape, and culture of Nepal among others. Anyone can sign up and upload pictures on the website, which need to be approved before being placed for their quality and appropriateness. The photos uploaded in the portal can also be shared on social sites. It further stated that pictures are well protected by copyright clauses and the contributor of pictures will also be eligible to take part in the photo contest being held from time to time in the future.
During the launch of the portal, Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of NTB said, “Our main aim is the digital promotion. With the launch of the platform, a new chapter has started for the promotion of tourism.”
Likewise, Minister Bhattarai said “the newly launched portal will provide significant support in publicizing the tourism destinations of Nepal. The online platform can be a great initiative for the promotion of tourism through pictures. We can publicize our destination, products, and potentials through the portal.”
