Sherpa, Lama in race for NMA top seat

Separate panels led by Zimba Zangbu Sherpa and Shanta Bir Lama have filed their nominations for the upcoming election of Nepal Mountaineering Association, on Tuesday. While Sherpa is the immediate past president of NMA, Lama is the first vice president of the association.

Bhumi Lal Lama, Nimi Sherpa, Kul Bahadur Gurung, Fupu Chhewang Lama and Bimal Naharki are the candidates for the post of first vice president, second vice president, general secretary, secretary and treasurer from Sherpa’s panel.

Similarly, Hari Shrestha, Ang Chhewang Sherpa, Tulsi Gurung, Pemba Dorjee Sherpa, Durgananda Neupane, Mukund Pokhrel, Da Gelj Sherpa, Lakpa Tenjing Sherpa and Devi Prasad Pant are contesting in the election as executive members from Sherpa’s panel.

Similarly, Lama’s team has fielded Diwas Bikram Shah, Maya Sherpa, Bodh Raj Bhandari, Tika Ram Gurung and Sudarshan Neupane for the post of first vice president, second vice president, general secretary, secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Likewise, Binaya Shakya, Suman Prasad Neupane, Durga Shrestha, Shiva Bahadur Sapkota, Singi Lama, Mingmar Sherpa, Pasang Tendi Sherpa, Thakur Prasad Sapkota and Sanjeev Gurung are the candidates of executive members from Lama’s panel. The two teams had earlier announced their panels by organizing separate press meets in Kathmandu.

NMA, the alpine club of the country, is holding its election for a new executive committee on August 5.
