Mechi to Mahakali (M2M) Challenge ride is all set to be organizd on 21st June 2017 with an objective of promoting the drive tourism and for raising awareness about Parkinson’s disease in Nepal. This ride, which is named as M2M Challenge, will go all the way through the east – west highway with a challenge to complete the ride within 24 hours. The ride is set to start from Kakadbhitta in the Eastern part of Nepal and end at Mahendranagar.
Enfield rider Pramod Shrestha “Goofy” will complete the challenge with few other riders who will be joining him in this event. The riders are scheduled to start their journey on June 19 and end on June 24.
Speaking at the press conference held in Kathmandu, rider Shrestha said “We firmly believe that the ride covering the road from east to west of Nepal, will definitely help in the promotion of drive tourism in Nepal. The M2M Challenge will not remain as one-time ride, and we are planning to promote the challenge as an annual event too.”
The ride is also focused towards raising awareness about the lesser know Parkinson’s disease in Nepal. Parkinson’s disease is a neuro degenerative disease caused because of the lack of dopamine in the brain cells.
“Parkinson’s diagnosis brings a big tragedy for the patient as well as the family. Many patients ask ‘why me?’ And not finding any support group can be frustrating for them. Patients are even more frustrated when they need to explain what Parkinson’s disease is. They suffer a lot and at the end of the day people around them don’t even know what the disease is all about,” shared Banita Khanal, a patient as well as a Parkinson Disease awareness activist during the press conference. She added, “These are the reasons why it has become necessary to raise awareness among people about this disease and M2M challenge can be a platform where we can reach large number of people during the six day period.”
