KHAPTAD, the Khaptad National Park to be precise, is situated in the far-west development region of Nepal. It is a peaceful and spiritual place with 22 patans or grasslands. Khaptad has some spiritual values as popular sage Khaptad Baba is believed to have meditated here. The place wears festive look during the Ganga Dasahara festival.

The easy and enjoyable route to Khaptad is from Bajhang district. If you want to explore the local culture and prefer local food, you can stay in a homestay at Lamatola village. From here, Khaptad is a six-hour walk. You can also visit Shaileswori temple in Doti, and Amargadhi fort in Dadeldhura while returning back from Khaptad. To avoid problem in finding accommodation, it is better to go through a tour agency.

Aerolina Tour is planning a tour to Khaptad in coming September (Asoj 12 – 20). The company had organized a successful trip to Khaptad during the Ganga Dasera festival earlier this year.

Many travel related people had expressed their desire to visit Khaptad during a program organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) for announcing the year 2073 as Ghumphir Barsha.
