Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) are teaming up with Plug and Play, an open platform that develops technologies to supports startups in the sustainable tourism sector across Asia.
With the partnership, Plug and Play can reach out to more startups in the travel and tourism industry and provide assistance that will enable them to achieve United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Plug and Play’s innovation platform brings together startups, investors, and blue-chip corporations. With its headquarter in Singapore, it has offices in 25 locations worldwide.
The innovation platform is currently working with several airports, airlines, hotels, travel agents, and other industry stakeholders. The platform aims to provide enterprises with examples of corporate best practices from it’s existing global corporate travel consortium.
Dominic Mellor, the Senior Investment Officer of ADB said, “The main objective of partnership with the platform is to pilot and scale sustainable and circular economy technologies that reduce waste, conserve energy and water, and provide green solutions to reduce the tourism industry’s carbon footprint.”
