The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is hosting the 2nd Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM) 2018 in Kathmandu on June 1-3.
The event is being organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in collaboration with Pacific Asia Travel Association PATA-Nepal Chapter as the executive organizer. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) headquarters are the organizing partners of the three-day event.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday, the organizers said that the main objective of the event is to showcase tourism products and services of the Himalayas to international buyers from around the world. “HTM 2018, as a unique B2B (Business to Business) event for the Himalayan Tourism Industry, shall continue to avail the remarkable gathering of Global Buyers, Himalayan Sellers, Travel Bloggers, influencers, National and International Media, Travel Industry Professionals and Delegates focused on different aspects of the Himalayan Tourism; facilitating them a platform for networking, shared knowledge, valuable insights and business opportunities,” they said in their statement.
According to the organizers, the HTM comprises of three different events. Himalayan Travel Mart Conference is being organized on June 1 and the International Travel Bloggers & Media Conference (ITBMC) on June 2 while the Buyers & Sellers Meet (Business Sessions) is scheduled on June 2-3, 2018 at Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Kathmandu.
Himalaya Travel Mart Conference, which is scheduled for June 2, will focus on different issues of tourism in the Himalayas like Cinematic Tourism, China Outbound Travel Market, Human Capital Development, Adventure and Sustainability, Global Accessibility, Wellness & Medical Tourism and Gastronomy among others. Experts from around the world will be participating in the conference.
Similarly, the major attraction of the travel mart, International Travel Bloggers and Media Conference (ITBMC) particularly aims to promote Nepal as a most promising tourism destination, bringing together the professional international Travel Bloggers, International Media, Travel Photographers and a dynamic lineup of National and International thought leaders from across the world to observe, share and promote the beauty of Nepal. More than 100 bloggers will be participating in the conference.
Likewise, more than 56 hosted buyers from 28 different countries of Europe, North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia & CIS, Asia and the Middle East with interest in Nepal and the Himalayan Region, with 95% new prospective buyers. More than 50 registered sellers from 6 different countries including Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, Vietnam, and UAE will be participating in the event.
Speaking at the press meet, PATA Nepal Chapter President Sunil Shakya said that the main goal of the HTM is to showcase Nepal as an international gateway for tourism, for the entire Himalayan region. He also showed his belief on HTM playing a vital role in achieving the target of ‘VISION FIVE MILLION’ campaign that aims to bring 5 million tourists in Nepal by 2030.
“We firmly believe that the event like HTM will be a great tool for achieving the target of vision 2020 put forward by the government of Nepal,” added Shakya.
Similarly, Deepak Raj Joshi, the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), said “we are very hopeful that the mart will make positive impacts on Nepali tourism industry. Last year’s event yielded some positive results and this year too it will certainly yield better results than before.”
